It is the woman’s best friend or enemy depending on one’s perception. The mirror whether in its miniature form in the purse or full body size, it has been the greatest accomplice to the woman’s beauty. The mirror however faithful it is, in pointing out our flaws, or complimenting us, it has no ability to do any corrections on the projected image. It merely shows us the reality of the reflected image. Just like in the fairy tale of Snowhite, the mirror on the wall could just tell the reality to the great disappointment of the wicked queen.
You see 2016, is like the rear view mirror of what we were, as we have entered in 2017.
The information we get from this mirror is vital in positioning us for the New Year. We can look back at ourselves as if in a mirror and see our image of what was positive and what was negative. We can see what we had achieved and where we had failed by looking at the mirror of 2016. We have a golden opportunity in 2017 to bring corrective measures to what wasn’t positive in 2016.
Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. ( James 1:23-24 )
The word of God is the mirror of our soul. It shows us our image and how we stand with God. When we hear the word of God it shows us the state we are in, but if we do not put the word of God in practice it’s as if we have forgotten what state we are in.
As we make corrective measures in how we were in 2016 let us not forget to look through the true mirror; the word of God which will give us a true image of who we are. What are you seeing through the mirror of the word of God? Is it envy, pride, jealousy, whatever it is, know you have the power to correct the image you see.
