February is the lovers’ month with Valentine Day being its central focus. I know for those who are in a relationship, everyone is preparing to surprise their loved ones with a special and unique demonstration of their love for them. For those who are not in a relationship, this may only seem like a fantasy; but this is far from the truth. Even though my hubby and I have a loving relationship, I find at times I feel the need to be loved in a deeper way, and this need, only God can satisfy with His love. The world says love is about how someone makes them feel or how they feel about someone, but God’s definition of love is about how you behave and treat others.

You see the Bible describes in I Corinthians 13:1-13 how true love is. It qualifies love as the greatest gift of all. We see that love is portrayed as, selfless, long-suffering, not envious, and rude or puffed up. In this passage we find the gauge to measure or test true love. It is a very high standard that not many men or women are not able to live up to. Let’s be honest we see here that love does not seek its own interest, rejoices in truth, bears all things, hopes all things and endures all things, how many people express love in this way? We always seek our personal interest or our way when interested in a relationship. This is because we are humans. Personally, I often come short of this list and I believe so do many of you.

God demonstrated this standard to us through the sacrifice of his Son Jesus on the cross. We can only attain this standard if we ask God to enable us. The Bible says that God is love, and with God, in us, we are able to love selflessly and unconditionally like He loved us. We have seen many people going from one relationship to another in search of their true love until giving up. God wants to be your Valentine this February. He loves you and cares deeply for you. He wants nothing but the best for you. The void within you no man’s or woman’s love can fill it; only God’s love. Will you take his offer? He says in Revelation 3:20 “Behold I stand at the door and know. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come to him and dine with him, and he with me.”

What is great about God’s love is that it is not only for the month of February but it is year long, and every day. It is not restricted in time, distance or situation. You can totally count on Him and you will never be disappointed. In Romans 8:35 the Bible says nothing can separate us from the love of God, not even death.
