The scene in Luke 24:1-12 starts with three women silently walking in the crisp morning each deep in thought mourning and reminiscing about their loved one that they had just lost. Afraid, yet boldly they pressed on determined in their mission to give a decent burial to a man who had transformed their lives individually and that of many, yet now gone: the man Jesus Christ. These women did not consider their weaknesses or what the society couldn’t permit them to do. As they finally arrived at the tomb where they had laid Jesus, they noticed something was different. The huge stone at the entrance was rolled away and the body of Jesus was nowhere to be found. In their confusion and utter despair, they were met with 2 angel-like men who asked them why they were looking for the living among the dead. These women understood that Jesus had risen from the dead!

These women ended up playing a key role in receiving first hand the news of Jesus’ resurrection, which is the pinnacle of the Christian faith and spreading it to others. God knew He needed a woman to spread the news. What was considered a woman’s shortfall or bad character (talking too much, gossiping and spreading rumors) God used it for good. In no time the message of Jesus’ Resurrection went viral without Instagram, FB or any social media. Only women who were faithfully instructed with the Good News delivered it boldly and passionately. When the disciples were hiding in fear these women went out boldly. They could not keep the Good News to themselves that Jesus is alive and all powerful. The resurrection of Jesus brought redemption to mankind, death has no more power. Resurrection gives us hope for the future no matter how dead your situation may be.Resurrection reminds us that Jesus is not a legend but He is Alive!

Happy Easter! Proud to be a woman and will continue to faithfully carry this message that Jesus is Alive.
